Jobs

Work on the questions that shape a business.

Salts & Stones is interested in people who enjoy getting to the substance of a question. You will be encouraged to form evidence-backed opinions expressed in a way that clients can use.

Working at Salts & Stones

Our assignments give people the chance to understand a business from the inside, while bringing the perspective that comes from standing slightly apart from it.

One week may involve looking at a market in Europe. Another may centre on the commercial proposition for a business entering the United Kingdom. The work is varied because clients arrive with different questions and ambitions.

We value people who can move comfortably between research and discussion. Good work often begins with careful reading or a well-judged interview. It develops through thinking that is both curious and commercially useful.

What we look for

  • Interest in how businesses find and serve customers
  • Strong research habits and sound written judgement
  • The ability to make complex information easier to use
  • Care with detail and respect for deadlines
  • Confidence in conversations with senior client teams
  • A willingness to take ownership of a piece of work
  • An open mind and a point of view worth sharing
  • Interest in markets beyond the United Kingdom

Life At Salts & Stones

We are a small consultancy by design. This means that the people who join us can contribute to meaningful work from an early stage.

You will work closely with colleagues and clients. You will see how a project develops from the first conversation through to the recommendations that follow. You will also have room to develop your own judgement through exposure to different sectors and market situations.

Our working environment is thoughtful, direct and generous with ideas. We take the work seriously because clients depend on it. We also believe that useful work is strengthened by open discussion, good questions, careful preparation and a willingness to improve a draft.
